Oral surgery refers to any surgery performed on the teeth, mouth and/or jaw in order to relieve pain and restore proper function to these areas. At the Mission Viejo dental practice of Dr. Robert Milner, we provide oral surgery for a variety of conditions, including:
- Missing teeth
- Impacted teeth
- TMJ problems
- Mouth/teeth injuries
- Conditions requiring tooth extraction
- Bite problems (malocclusion)
- Endodontal diseases
Types of Oral Surgery Procedures
Tooth extraction refers to the removal of a significantly decayed tooth that cannot be restored back to health or an impacted or wisdom tooth that does not have enough room to properly grow in the mouth.
Endodontic surgery is a series of treatments used to treat damaged root surfaces of a tooth as well as any damaged bone surrounding it.
Dental implants replace a missing tooth. Dental implants consist of three parts: a titanium post that is surgically placed in the jaw, an artificial tooth and an abutment that connects the two.
Oral surgery for temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) corrects a misaligned bite or other jaw problems related to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
